What’s with the Russian spam?

Why do I keep getting Russian spam?

Уметь слушать тишину – значит быть способным услышать бесконечность, как говорил Моцарт, на вашем сайте тишину не послушаешь, но много …

which translates to:

To know how to listen to silence – means to be capable of hearing infinity, as Mozart spoke, silence you will not listen to on your site, but it is much…

Great, thanks! You’re still spam though. Maybe their saying that my lack of posts is music to their ears… In that case… F’ off!

Sorry for the lapse in updates. I’m still busy with work and school and trying to make time for my own projects… like AP and random Arduino projects that have been swimming around my brain.

I’ll be back posting shortly and new podcasts will resume in 2 weeks.

Stupid projects

I’ve been toying with this crap for the better of 6 months now. It’s crap, in fact it is actually pretty in theory. The problem is that I can’t get it to fucking work!

What I’m talking about is the USBTinyISP from ladyada.net. This is a kit project that allows you to send simple C code from your computer to a microcontroller chip, in my case, the ATTINY45. What I’m trying to do is to get a few frelling LEDs to flicker randomly like a candle. Only because I want to test it!

Here’s my problem:

Both my PC and Mac can see the USBTinyISP which means I’m getting power to the programmer… then what? I have tried several target boards for the receiving chip to no luck at all. Evilmadscientist.com has an article on target boards, which I have followed and still no success.

Has anyone out there had experience with target boards and/or programmers like the above? Drop me a line would ya!

In the meantime, I’ll be picking up an Arduino Duemilanove.
