Where have we been?

Sorry gang, the Assimilated Podcast has obviously been on a many week hiatus.

Hawkeye has been busy with working weekends and not returning calls, while I have been busy with school and work during the week (and not returning calls). Pretty much saying that taking an hour out of the week was too much effort. Pretty much everything fell apart after we turned 33, but who knows.

New shows will be up shortly and I will keep all of you guys posted as to when.

So back to me. Welding is a lot harder than I had expected. My teacher, being a perfectionist is so critical on the look as well as the quality. I feel a little sad when he takes a hammer to a weld to test the penetration, but I suppose it is expected. I still need to figure out brazing, flame cutting and rod welding in ten weeks. Wish me luck.

How are you guys doing?

Stupid projects

I’ve been toying with this crap for the better of 6 months now. It’s crap, in fact it is actually pretty in theory. The problem is that I can’t get it to fucking work!

What I’m talking about is the USBTinyISP from ladyada.net. This is a kit project that allows you to send simple C code from your computer to a microcontroller chip, in my case, the ATTINY45. What I’m trying to do is to get a few frelling LEDs to flicker randomly like a candle. Only because I want to test it!

Here’s my problem:

Both my PC and Mac can see the USBTinyISP which means I’m getting power to the programmer… then what? I have tried several target boards for the receiving chip to no luck at all. Evilmadscientist.com has an article on target boards, which I have followed and still no success.

Has anyone out there had experience with target boards and/or programmers like the above? Drop me a line would ya!

In the meantime, I’ll be picking up an Arduino Duemilanove.

Episode 7 is now up for your listening pleasure.

Thanks to those of you that wished me a happy birthday. I may not like celebrating my bday, but I’m glad that you guys are around.

Today’s show reviews District-9, the film of an alien refugee camps in South Africa. We discuss birthdays in a slightly inconsistent manner. And of course, Mike continues with his Twilight Saga Book Report… yay :l

In the meantime, Happy Birthdays go to:

Sgt.Slobber
Angst
Pele
Deity
Hawkeye
Anubis

and who ever else I missed of the summer birthdays.

This week we review GI Joe, what went wrong, what could they have left out. Keep in mind, there are some spoilers, but not enough to really make any sense.

It is no spoiler at all that Rachel Nichols is frelling hot!

Twilight is also reviewed… again… I think when this series is over, I’ll have him read VC Andrews Flowers in the Attic.

We saw D-9 yesterday… good movie. We will review this and more random BS next week.

After a few unposted weeks, we are back up and ready to give you useless information! It wasn’t my fault, my host had to make a change on their server.
